Within the Electromagnetic Spectrum, there are three main frequency ranges used for RFID communication – Low Frequency (LF), High Frequency (HF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF).

Low Frequency(LF)

  • Genel Frekans Aralığı: 30 – 300 kHz
  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 125 – 134 kHz
  • Okuma Menzili: Approx. – 10 Centimeters
  • Uygulandığı Alanlar: Animal Tracking, Access Control, Vehicle Switching, High Volume Liquid and Metal Applications
  • Artıları: Works well near Liquids & Metals
  • Eksileri: Very Short Read Range, Limited Memory Amount, Low Data Transmission Speed, High Production Cost

High Frequency(HF)

  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 13.56 MHz
  • Okuma Menzili: Close Distance – 30 Centimeters
  • Uygulamaları: DVD Kiosks, Library Books, Personal Identity Cards, Poker / Casino Chips, NFC Applications
  • Artıları: NFC Global Protocols, Larger Memory Options, Global Standards
  • Eksileri: Short Read Range, Low Data Transmission Rate

Ultra High Frequency (UHF)

  • Genel Frekans Aralığı: 300 – 3000 MHz
  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 433 MHz, 860 – 960 MHz
  • There are three types of RFID in the Ultra High Frequency range: Active RFID, Semi Active and Passive RFID.

Aktif RFID

  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 433 MHz, (Çok Yüksek Frekans Aralığı altında 2.45 GHz kullanabilir)
  • Okuma Mesafesi: Uzak İletişim – 30 – 100+ Metre
  • Uygulamaları: Vehicle Tracking, Automated Manufacturing, Mining, Construction, Live Product Tracking
  • Artıları: Very Long Read Range, Low Infrastructure Cost (Passive RFID vs.), Large Memory Capacity, High Data Transmission Rates
  • Eksileri: Cost Per Label, Shipping Restrictions (due to battery), Complex Software Required, High Noise in Metals and Liquids; Several Global Standards

Pasif RFID

  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 860 – 960 MHz
  • Okuma Aralığı: Yakın İletişim – 25 Metre
  • Uygulamaları: Supply Chain Tracking, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Electronic Transportation, Inventory Tracking, Race Timing, Asset Tracking
  • Artıları: Long Reading Range, Low Cost Per Label, Wide Range of Label Sizes and Shapes, Global Standards, High Data Transmission Rates
  • Eksileri: High Equipment Costs, Medium Memory Capacity, High Noise from Metals and Liquids

Yarı Aktif RFID (BAP)

  • Ana Frekans Aralığı: 860 – 960 MHz
  • Okuma Aralığı: Orta mesafe İletişim – 40 Metre
  • Uygulamaları: Supply Chain Tracking, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Electronic Transportation, Inventory Tracking, Race Timing, Asset Tracking
  • Artıları: If an application already uses Gen2 passive RFID hardware and requires more read ranges than passive tags can provide, BAP RFID tags can provide just that. Unlike active RFID tags, BAP tags work with the same Gen2 RFID hardware as passive RFID tags. This allows two labels to work together in the same application.
  • Eksileri: Cost per label, Medium Memory Capacity, Shipping Restrictions (due to battery)

Example Applications

Examples of RFID-enabled applications are unlimited. Applications range from large areas such as stock tracking to supply chain management and may be more specialized depending on the company or sector. The types of RFID applications can range from IT asset tracking to textile tracking and even rental item tracking. What distinguishes a potential RFID application from applications that can use other types of systems is the need to identify individual products quickly and more effectively in cases where conventional systems fail. Below are a few applications that successfully use RFID technology.

  • Race timing supply chain management
  • Drug Tracking
  • Inventory Tracking
  • IT Asset Tracking
  • Laundry and Textile
  • Products Tracking
  • File Tracking RTI
  • Tracking Event and Exhibitor Tracking
  • Access control
  • Vehicle Tracking
  • Baby Monitoring in Hospitals Animal
  • Tracking Goods
  • Tracking Jewelry
  • Tracking Retail
  • Inventory Tracking
  • Pipe and Reel
  • Monitoring Logistics Tracking (Materials Management)
  • DVD Kiosks Tracking of Library Materials
  • Marketing Campaigns
  • Real Time Location Systems
